Pristine and beautiful: New Zealand

The North Island and South Island are the two main land masses in the south-western Pacific Ocean that make up the island country of New Zealand. The beautiful landscape of New Zealand includes vast mountain chains, steaming volcanoes, sweeping coastlines, deeply indented fiords and lush rainforests. The Maori call it ‘Aotearoa’ translated as The Land of the Long White Cloud.

New Zealand’s separation from other land masses about 100 million years ago allowed many ancient plants and animals to survive and evolve in isolation into a unique flora and fauna. A quarter of the country still remains forested protected from exploitation in national and forest parks, where they can be enjoyed by all. New Zealand is a land of unique flightless birds like the kiwi, the weka and the endangered kakapo. racing car pictures

30 percent of New Zealand’s land area is protected conservation land that includes 14 national parks, three maritime parks, two world heritage areas, hundreds of nature reserves and ecological areas, a network of marine reserves and wetlands, and protection for special rivers and lakes.
